Examination Guide

How does the sports examination work?

Our examination is comprehensive and includes two parts - basic and stress.

  • First, we perform a medical history, physical examination and laboratory tests.
  • This is followed by a stress examination with ECG and blood pressure monitoring during physical activity.

In this way , we will also detect health problems that only become apparent with exertion and recommend appropriate prevention and training. In case of pathology findings, we will arrange an appointment with AKESO POLIKLINKA specialists.

Our comprehensive approach provides the highest level of care and safety for your health during sports.

Do I need an abbreviated or comprehensive examination?

  • The abbreviated examination - resting ECG assessment only - is suitable for people without increased physical activity and students who are not studying at a sports school or who do not have extended sports activities. This examination is insufficient for sports school students, performance and elite athletes.
  • Comprehensive Examination - A comprehensive resting and exercise ECG assessment is appropriate for sports school students, performance and elite athletes. To detect hidden heart defects, it is crucial to load the body with increased physical activity while monitoring the ECG.

What to take with you to the sports check-up?

  • Sports shoes, sports shorts, women a bra that covers the back as little as possible for the spinal examination.
  • A towel and a drink bottle.
  • Medical reports (if you have had a significant medical problem in the past or just before the examination that affects or limits your eligibility for sport or sport performance).

How long does the examination take?

  • Please arrive 10 minutes before your appointment time.
  • The examination will then take approximately 30-45 minutes.

Shall I eat?

  • Come to the tour lightly fed, not hungry. Drinks are best to take with you.

Is the examination covered by health insurance?

  • This examination is not covered by health insurance as it is a specialised comprehensive examination focused on sports performance and prevention.

Experiences of our clients

Olga M.

I run longer distances and wanted to have my heart and general fitness checked. At the Sports Medicine Clinic, I received not only a detailed examination, but also practical tips on how to adjust my training. I like that if I need to follow up on a specialized examination, everything is available in one place.

Václav P.

I went to the AKESO POLYCLINIC for a preventive check-up because I regularly play football with my friends. The examination was thorough and I also received advice on how to avoid unnecessary injuries. The doctor's approach was very professional and friendly, which gave me confidence that I was taking proper care of my health.

Alena Č.

Even in retirement, I don't want to stop playing sports, I go swimming and exercising. That's why I treated myself to a sports check-up at the Sports Medicine Clinic. The doctor recommended how to set the load so that I can be active and not hurt myself. I see a huge advantage in connection with physiotherapy, where they will help me with regeneration and the correct adjustment of movement.

Rodiče Michala V.

We brought our son, who plays hockey, for a check-up. The doctor was patient with him, explained everything clearly, and managed the check-up in such a way that my son saw it more as an interesting experience than an obligation. The results are fine, and we, as parents, are confident that he can play sports safely.
