Colon cancer screening
Colon cancer is one of the most common cancers, yet it can be effectively prevented by early screening. That is why the preventive campaign "Don't be a colon!" was created, which we have prepared for you with the Health Insurance Fund of the Ministry of the Interior of the Czech Republic in cooperation with the Police of the Czech Republic and the Fire Brigade. The aim of the campaign is to offer a simple, quick and painless way to keep your health under control - because prevention is the best way to protect your health.
QUICK, EASY, PAINLESS
- Screening involves testing for occult bleeding, i.e. traces of blood in the stool that are invisible to the eye
- If the result is positive, a further colonoscopy is recommended to clarify the cause (polyps, inflammation, tumour, etc.)
- Candidates complete a secure web form with the basic personal data needed to process the test
- then pick up the sample kit and return envelope at a designated location
- collection tubes will be available at the designated locations, and two sample collection dates will be set
- collection must be made no more than 48 hours before collection and the sample must be kept cool and dark
- the test itself is simple, completely painless and requires no dietary preparation
- the sample is collected in the comfort of the home according to the enclosed instructions, ideally from the first stool of the morning of the collection day
