Journey to health in the rhythm of the year
Tradition and natural environment in child development
The rhythm of the year, the changing seasons and traditions help children to perceive the natural passage of time, bring a sense of security and safety and support their psychological well-being. They also create space for family time together and strengthen relationships between children and their loved ones.
Therapeutic workshops focus on the importance of the rhythm of the year and traditions as a natural support for healthy child development. They offer a safe space for children and their families to come together, strengthen inner resources and actively nurture health.
Who are the workshops for? For children:
- with anxieties
- with long-term illnesses
- with overload, irritability or impulsivity
- who find it difficult to cope with change
- after a challenging life event or treatment
- with psychosomatic difficulties
- with a neurodevelopmental disorder (e.g. ADHD)
and also their caregivers ( parents, grandparents, siblings,...), especially if they have been caring for a sick child for a long time or are exposed to family stress.
Therapeutic goals:
- strengthening a sense of security and stability
- coping with tension and anxiety
- promoting sensory experience
- strengthening the child's own competences
- promoting relationships between the child and carers
From ashes to blossom
II. therapeutic workshop
The turn of April and May is the time around the Philopoic night (known as the "witching night"). After this, the light part of the year begins. This transition is traditionally associated with purification, the closing of the old and the opening of space for the new.
The second therapeutic workshop of the Journey to Health in the Rhythm of the Year series builds on these traditions and offers children a space to experience, create and do simple activities aimed at releasing tension and promoting inner stability.
Workshop programme:
- introductory introduction and relaxation in the form of a simple breathing exercise
- "What the water takes away": symbolic surrender of what weighs the children down
- creating one's own maypole as an expression of a new beginning
- final sharing and reflection on the experience
The work with natural materials is playful and promotes self-confidence and the ability to perceive one's own inner resources.
