AKESO POLIKLINIKA is expanding its professional spectrum with a new outpatient clinic of venous surgery under the leadership of MUDr. Jana Valešová. It offers patients comprehensive outpatient care in the area of varicose veins, and in case of the need for surgical intervention, treatment is followed by the Day Care Centre of the Rehabilitation Hospital Beroun.
Varicose veins are not just an aesthetic problem
In the initial stages, varicose veins may not be visible at first sight and venous insufficiency may only manifest itself as swelling and a feeling of "heavy legs". It is most reliably detected by ultrasound. Varicose veins can manifest from subtle scallops, to markedly dilated veins, to more extensive skin changes that can result in a tibial ulcer. Early diagnosis and individually selected therapy are the key to beautiful and healthy legs.
"In our outpatient clinic, we focus on the treatment of varicose veins from both a medical and aesthetic perspective. The disease of the venous system is not just a cosmetic problem - patients often come with swelling, a feeling of heavy legs, cramps, itching or eczema. In advanced conditions, tibial ulcers may even develop," explains Jana Valešová, MD.
Modern treatment methods
Minor findings, such as scrotums and small veins, are commonly treated with sclerotherapy. "This is a simple outpatient procedure in which a substance is injected into the affected vein to close it," says MUDr. Valešová.
For larger veins, modern minimally invasive methods are used in cooperation with the Day Care Centre of the Beroun Hospital, most often laser ablation, which can be supplemented with a mini-phlebectomy if necessary. "The advantage of these procedures is that they take place under local anaesthesia, without the need for general anaesthesia," adds MUDr. Valešová.
In cases where the patient decides to undergo a classic varicose vein operation, MUDr. Valešová performs the procedures within the Beroun hospital's day surgery. In most cases, however, she prefers modern outpatient methods, which are gentler, do not require anaesthesia and allow patients to return to normal life more quickly.
The venous surgery outpatient clinic at AKESO POLIKLINICE thus combines an individual approach, the latest treatment procedures and direct continuity with the top care of day surgery.
