How do you evaluate the past year?
The year 2021 was the year when we started operations in the spring in new beautiful premises and offered AKESO holding services in the capital. Very quickly we managed to fill our outpatient clinics with new clients, to whom we offer a new standard of care. We are adjusting the operation of DCNH to meet the needs of our clients, for example, we have extended the operating hours of MRI to the evening hours and subsequently to the weekend.
Have you noticed a great demand for health services after the opening of the centre?
Since opening, we have been trying to expand our outpatient clinic operations to meet the demand for our services. We have hired additional orthopedists, physiotherapists specializing in newborns and toddlers, pediatric urologists, and gynecologists. At the same time, from January we took over the practice of MUDr. Benakova, who closed her outpatient clinic, and we also strengthened the operation of the general practitioner's office for children and adolescents. We would like to continue to optimize our surgery hours.
What did it take to get the new centre up and running in Prague?
The commissioning of the Diagnostic Centre consisted of two stages. The first was the construction work to renovate the premises in which we built the centre and the second stage was setting up the operation of individual outpatient clinics and staffing.
In general, there is a problem with the shortage of medical staff. Have you had staffing difficulties?
Lack of medical staff is a well-known problem faced by healthcare facilities across the Czech Republic. Fortunately, we are an example of the fact that if you offer employees a pleasant working environment and adequate remuneration for their work, staff can be provided, so we have not had any problems with staffing.
Is the centre now fully staffed with patients or is there room for appointments?
The capacity of the outpatient clinics is now defacto full, there is a huge demand for the care provided in the diagnostic centre. We are still accepting patients, but unfortunately some of the specialised outpatient clinics are already at maximum capacity. For example, paediatric neurology is already full until the end of this year. We are delighted with the interest from clients, but we also recognise that to continue to meet demand we need to grow. For this reason, the owner of AKESO Holding, Sotirios Zavalianis, has decided to build another clinic not far from us in Prague - Stodůlky, which will provide a significantly larger space for the provision of our services.
What changes are you planning in the next year?
This year we have strengthened the operation of paediatric urology, gynaecology, psychological outpatient clinic, nutrition outpatient clinic, we have increased the number of order slots for MRI and last but not least, thanks to Dr. Jankova and Dr. Podrazilová, we have built a biological treatment centre within the rheumatology outpatient clinic. More innovations are still to come. We would like to open the gynaecological outpatient clinic also on weekends to meet the demands of clients who are busy during the working week.
