In the rheumatology outpatient clinic for children we deal with complex examination, diagnosis and treatment of inflammatory diseases of joints and connective tissue in children and adolescents.

This includes a wide range of childhood diseases, including juvenile idiopathic arthritis, reactive arthritis and systemic connective tissue diseases. The basic characteristic of these diseases is inflammation of the joint accompanied by swelling, protrusion and limitation of range of motion. In systemic diseases, the manifestations are more varied and include, for example, fever, skin or organ manifestations.

The basis of diagnosis is a physical examination of the child, including a detailed assessment of family and personal history (diseases present in the family, general morbidity and development of the child).

In our outpatient clinic we provide a comprehensive physical examination of the musculoskeletal system, differential diagnosis and pharmacological treatment of rheumatic diseases, including diagnostic and therapeutic joint puncture. If necessary, we provide additional examinations and follow-up in follow-up specialist outpatient clinics at a specialized department.

In order to provide the best possible care to our patients, we have state-of-the-art radiodiagnostic equipment and special laboratory tests required for rheumatology diagnosis. We also work closely with the Beroun Rehabilitation Hospital.

The patient comes to our outpatient clinic for the first examination on the basis of a recommendation from a general practitioner for children and adolescents or a doctor of another specialty, most often orthopaedics.
