Venous Surgery

The venous surgery outpatient clinic focuses mainly on varicose veins, whether from a medical or aesthetic point of view.

In addition to unsightly dilated veins, varicose veins can cause swelling of the lower limbs, cramps, heavy legs, itching and eczema. In the early stages, they may be just tiny veins dilated in the skin (called whiskers or spider veins). However, larger changes may not be visible and the disease may initially only manifest itself as swelling of the lower legs. With prolonged exposure to venous insufficiency, skin changes such as thinning of the skin, browning of the skin (hyperpigmentation), and later, tibial ulceration may occur.

Minor findings (scrotal and smaller veins) are treated with sclerotisation. Sclerotisation is an outpatient procedure in which a substance is injected into the affected vein, leading to its closure.

We are then able to treat larger findings with the most modern minimally invasive methods - for example , laser ablation, which can be supplemented by miniphlebectomy if necessary . Both procedures are performed under local anaesthesia, without the need for general anaesthesia. In addition, we also offer conventional varicose vein surgery, which is nowadays increasingly being replaced by minimally invasive methods - thanks to their minimal pain, greater sparing, no need for general anaesthesia and faster recovery.
